Choosing a Book for that one really Big Project….
The Search for my book started off in a simple manner, I was daydreaming during school when I had nothing better to do when my thoughts turned to movies that were in theaters. Among these was the new movie Beowulf, based on a middle age epic poem from Great Britain. As I realized this I thought that “Hey! that may be a good idea for that one English project I need to start”. So that night I looked it up online and after reading only one stanza I realized that it was beyond my ability or wish to attempt to understand. Hence I remained book less for a week or two with no new ideas coming to mind. A period of time passed then during which I ran some ideas through my mind but none of them seemed appealing…The Prince by Machiavelli, though Brian ended up doing that one, and then I though about Lord of the Rings…but I know that one too well to be a good experience and Brandon chose that one anyway. I really had no idea what book I wanted until Kreinbring asked us in class what book we were doing. Not wanting to look like an idiot, when he got to me, I picked a book off the top of my mind that I knew I had lying around somewhere but after buying it I had never read it. As I looked through my dusty shelves that evening after being pretty much stuck with the book I had named I found it, lying in a forgotten nook….the original Dracula, by Bram Stoker. A Century old fictional novel that has inspired countless stories about vampires, I knew immediately after flipping through it that I had struck gold, even though I had not given it second thought before. It was a great choice. Hence, without further thought or doubt I proceeded to begin reading it and made sure it had good literary merit on a Google search. Its merit confirmed, I thus chose Dracula as my book for this project.
